Why am I Here?

I am here because I was an accident.
I wasn’t planned,
Even though my parents wanted a child.
I go to school,
Because it’s the law.
I’m forced into a competition,
I never wanted to join.
I wear chains,
Even though they’re invisible.
My uniform,
The orange jumpsuit.
My classrooms,
The prison cells.
My teachers,
The prison guards.
My principle,
The warden.
I visit home every night,
So that I can remember what my family looks like,
So that I know what I’m working for:
My freedom.
I am here because I was an accident.
I wasn’t planned,
Even though my parents wanted a child.
I never asked to be born,
To be forced into a world,
I never wanted to be apart of,
But I’m here now,
And I’m going to fight,
To create the life I never asked for,
But always wanted.
