It flutters around
A pretty blue butterfly
Calling out my name.
It promises me something
It is something happy
I don’t know what it is
But I take it anyways.
My hand reaches out to the butterfly.
It lands, perches on my wrist
And slices
Is what I felt
Is what I wanted
But I take it anyways.
Blood drips
And pain throbs
Tears fall
More and more as I reach out to that butterfly
It doesn’t make me feel anything anymore
But I take it anyways.
I see the butterfly more and more.
It’s all over my arms
Blocks my vision
Clouds my thoughts
So now all I can see are my scars
I don’t reach out to the butterfly anymore
But it gives it to me anyways.
