Your Eyes
Everything I’ve ever wanted,
the stars, the moon, and the sun,
I saw in your eyes.
Everything I’ve ever needed,
shelter, love, and protection,
I saw in your eyes.
Everything I’ve ever craved,
pleasure, lust, and guilt,
I saw in your eyes.
Everything I've ever fought for,
success, fame, and power,
I saw in your eyes.
Everything I’ve ever feared,
anger, resent, and bitterness,
I saw in your eyes.
But still,
you were a mystery novel
I was not willing to
crack the spine of.
I saw the world through your eyes.
I’ve never seen so much red,
as the whole world was tinted
with angry crimson.
I’ve never seen such beauty,
as all the flowers bloomed
as soon as I turned.
I’ve never seen so many demons,
fighting battles like yours,
bravely but horrifically.
However,
I’ve never seen so much love,
as when I looked into your eyes,
as you were looking at me.
