The Man
The love will come first
I know it as I watch
I feel as if my lungs might burst
And my heart is playing hopscotch
The Man
He will love me
Then he will hurt me
He knows the pain I have endured
And I know how it will all end
By the finish, I will never be cured
He will never be more than a friend
The Man
He will love me
Then he will hurt me
My love is dripping from my heart
My fear is pouring from my head
The two mix to make a colorful art
But by the end, my hopes will be dead
The Man
He will love me
Then he will hurt me
My heart skips a beat
My head is feeling dizzy
Getting hurt was a treat
It made my thoughts all fizzy
The Man
He will love me
Then he will hurt me
He made me feel wanted
He made me want to need less
He’s in my head; I’m haunted
He made my sins turn and confess
The Man
He will love me
Then he will hurt me
