Raining On The Playground

The cobblestones cracked like thick, dark chocolate,
peeking past peeling fence posts.
Asphalt burning through flaked knees, the sun violent, leeching for thirst, a rich, fat toffee.
To the west breaches rippling skies, heavy and bloated, tugging down the horizon.
It bursts.
Rushing in the stale scent of plastics
and oncoming rain.
