The trees sway back and forth shedding layers of snow
into the whispering wind, falling to the ground like dew.
The tall grass created waves like the ocean fluctuating.
I sat on my sled at the bottom of the hill taking in all the beauty
before my eyes, silent but screaming simultaneously.
A bellowing howl breaks the silence. It is he—the lone wolf.
He gazes down from the highest peak, standing tall with courage.
I freeze in my tracks, eyes locked on him.
His strong chest and incredible howl shake me deep.
He sees me, dips his head and goes on his way.
Still stuck in my boots, I watch his fur ripple with the wind.
He walks alone through the field into the forest.
The trees swayed back and forth creating a wall of light snow fall.
In a moment, he's gone but still present in the loud silence of winter.
