Burn, baby, burn

November 21, 2017

He could leave a thousand lipstick stains on the walls,
And no one would notice, not a soul

He could write a hundred love letters just for me,
And I still wouldn’t fall,
But he could set me on fire a thousand times,
And I still wouldn’t leave

I could write a thousand words,
And the world would still drown my screams

So quiet, so cold,
He said ‘baby girl, you’re just like snow,
Everyone will forget your words before winter’s over’

His lips are like fire,
They burn, and they sting,
But they’re warm and deadly

I told him he was like smoke,
That was the last word we ever said

No goodbye, we just left
And lipstick stains on the lockers and the walls,
Spelling words she’ll never know
