Forlorn Feelings
There’s nothing wrong with being sad.
Sometimes I like to lay in the darkness
crawled into a ball
in the comfort of my twin-sized bed,
earbuds tightly shoved in my ears
playing somber notes of a piano sonata,
the minor key attracting tears.
Fat droplets of despair
cascading down my face,
bringing with them the burdens
that are strapped onto my ankles
prohibiting me from running.
My sadness cleanses me
of the horrors of the world,
giving me hope that everything will be okay.

I hope people realize that being sad is a normal human emotion that they should not be ashamed of.
