Tying my shoes, grasping my keys
Could have escaped, with faster pace.
Whimpering, whining, wailing –
“Not today, I’m running late.”
But at her lifeless tail, I break.
“Car,” I say. That’s all it takes.

This is written in a Korean poetic form called sijo.
