Sand invades the space between my toes
As a foamy ocean wave sweeps over them.
The water is blue as ever
Creating white bubbles when they crash,
Bubbles that will always pop
Once the tide recedes.
I hear the call of the seagulls from above,
A desperate attempt at communication.
Beachgoers laugh while playing volleyball,
Cry when sand crawls into their eyes,
And smile throughout the sandcastle-building experience.
Yet they hold equally powerful meanings.
The aroma of sandwiches and an assortment of snacks
Wafts through my nostrils.
The scents of the beach
And the crystal water
Are memorable ones,
That can be carried on forever.
The brutal taste of the ocean,
Bitterness slapping at my tastebuds
Causes my nose to burn
And my tongue to scream out in pain.
While the bland taste of the sand
As I crunch it with two teeth
Brings me a grin just the same.
The water feels frigid when overwhelming my feet,
Forming a nice contrast with the scorching sand.
The sun beats down on my skin
Warmth shielding me from any meandering dangers.
Salty kisses shared among you and me
Make the beach my refuge,
