You will start your life with one flower
With every pedal that drops it slowly defines you
But when you are old and gray...nothing left to say
You will find that the mundanity it used to portray
Looks a lot less momentous nowadays…
So all the years of roses and chocolate cake
And year after year showing your flower to a partner selected to mate…
But when they used you and broken you and stolen your petals away...
I gave you my flower.
The one my mother gave me when I was small, petite and cruelty-free
But the only life that I live strives on independency
But you deserve my flower
And all the love it gives...

The author's comments:

your heart is like a flower...easily bruised and ultra sensitive. But even if you fear the risk of love in the reap of heart break just know loving is more satisfying than fear.
