One day in the future, whether near or far, the world might push us nearer to each other
and force us to think about who we are.

Whether we're together or apart,
strangers or soul mates,
will we then find out
which one is better for us?

If time reveals that we were made for each other,
we can figure out why you didn't see it sooner,
and why I stopped holding onto hope for us.

If time reveals that you were right all along,
and that we aren't a good match, maybe
I'll smile at you and say, “what, no ‘I told you so?’”

No matter where life takes us,
whether there's an ocean’s separation
or a two step’s distance,
I hope you can find somebody that loves you
half as much as I was willing to,
and I hope that I can find somebody
with a mind half as beautiful as yours.

We both deserve what we could never give each other.
