When I Dream

Sometimes I see him
When I dream
His soft round face
Curly red hair
Smiling eyes and lips

I hear him laughing
When I dream
A high-pitched squeal
Head tilted back
His entire body shakes

I never touch him
When I dream
He seems far away
Emptiness wakes me
Wanting to dream again

This is a poem about longing for someone that you will never see again.
