run–away circus–girl

June 18, 2017

when life unfocuses into a kaleidoscope
like the blur of a carousel’s wild kilter
i climb above the dizzying crowd
amongst ropes and circus glitter

clowns and contortionists bend in mimicry
as the xylophone pushes and pulls attention
leotard stretching like a second skin
transformed i feel most like myself

juggling lives in unending motion
caught in a cascade i cannot cease
i channel this waterfall’s torrent
through circus i find peace
