We are of Rivers

We are of Rivers,
Of rapids and streams,
Of little fish silver,
And a spring thaw's dream,

We carve the canyons,
Of red rock and sand,
And deep hidden fountains,
All through the land,

But, we are of stone,
And we are of clay,
Shaped by the river's roam,
All the long day,

Standing as statues,
With smooth edges and rough,
We stand in the rapids,
Till we're weathered enough,

Yet, we are of rivers,
Of rapids and streams,
We shape the stars silver,
And each other's dreams.
