Three Poems About Three Boys I Have Known This work is considered exceptional by our editorial staff.

1.  Berlin
It’s freezing on this rooftop
But your hand on my hip
Against my skin
Is warm inside my jeans
and
My little finger traces you
With a mind of its own.

2. (A haiku)
I still wear your watch
You use the mug I gave you
We’ve not talked in weeks

3.  Junior Prom
You kissed me in the final week of April
On a day that had no rain.
But on the drive home,
With my lips barely apart
And my head still full of static,
I saw the very first flash of summer lightening.
Lonely, and purple white,
It split the sky like something in a movie.

You communicate a lot of meaning with well-chosen, minimalist imagery
