Shells

If beautiful shells can rest
peacefully on a beach coast
without a care in the world,
why can’t humans?
each shell is one of a kind,
all sorts of shapes, sizes, and colors…
but humans are like that as well,
yet we get shamed for embracing
every difference between us
as if it matters whether or not
you look a certain way;
why can’t we be shells?
each person admires
the wonderfulness of
how none are the same,
and completely ignore
the fact that we are
just like them:
unique
diverse
imperfect
but perfect
just as we are
