broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i dont have words.
They have no need for our prayers
So do not tell me
These children faces could have belonged to you or me
Should we let the terrorists win, and take our freedom?
We need to see the victims for who they were
Young and free
Excited and naive
With shrapnel up their sleeves
Hopeful and happy
They were not expecting
Fear and bombs that day
Say it will happen to me
If we
Live our lives without care
Instead,
Let us
Place a ban,
Build a wall
It is not okay to say
This could have been me
Our country is never off guard
So dont be so naive to think that
This attack could be looked another way
This attack could be looked at another way
So dont be so naive to think that
Our country is never off guard
This could have been me
It is not okay to say
Build a wall
Place a ban
Let us
Instead,
Live our lives without care
If we say it will happen to me
Fear and bombs that day
They were not expecting
Hopeful and happy
With shrapnel up their sleeves
Excited and naive
Young and free
Should we let the terrorists win, and take our freedom?
We need to see the victims for who they were
These children faces could have belonged to you or me
So do not tell me
They have no need for our prayers

On May 22nd, 2017, a terrorist carried out an attack during an Ariana Grande concert. The terrorist placed a bomb at the exit of the concert, killing 22 people and wounding 59, most of the victims were young girls, and women, and all of the victims were there to enjoy a concert and have fun. This poem is a two-sided look at terrorism, specifically terrorism committed towards young innocent people.
