Hidden Mouse
Once upon a school day dreary I came home weak and weary
Hunger scratched at my core, so I opened the pantry door.
As it opened I heard a squeak and opened my eyes to take a peek
And only saw food and nothing more.
After that I took a snack and went to the second floor
Sitting on my bed something rattled at my core–
I thought I heard another squeak and feet pitter-pattering
But i looked around and saw my dresser and nothing more
With acceptance I shrugged my shoulder,
Went to sleep and started to snore.
In the night I heard a tapping
And something caught in the trap door.
When i heard it, the squeaking began again.
With this noise I ran to the door
But what I saw was a little mouse struggling to reach
a piece of cheese.
When he saw me he was glad. Quote the mouse, “pass a little more.”
