What If
Close your eyes.
Seriously close your eyes,
And just imagine.
Of what if.
Imagine one day
You wake up,
And the earth has reclaimed the land.
Trees replace skyscrapers.
Their leaves crowding against each other,
Blocking out the mighty sun.
Grass grown taller than you.
And a deafening silence.
Imagine one day
You wake up,
And the ocean is at your door.
The waves hugging your house,
Making your home a brand new island.
Crabs are crawling sideways on the windowsills.
Seaweed takes its spot as your new garden.
And a whale waves at you as it passes by.
Imagine one day
You wake up,
And the desert is your new bed.
Sand blowing across your cheeks,
The graininess stinging your skin.
Dunes untouched by anyone or anything.
The sun is your only companion,
And by night the moon freezes the same sand.
Imagine one day
You wake up,
And lilies or irises are humongous.
Roses’ thorns look like swords.
The petals of a tulip your new bed.
A begonia looks like it can be a new dress.
Sunflowers suck in all the sun.
The hibiscus flower is a lovely shady spot.
Open your eyes.
It’s okay now open your eyes.
And just imagine.
Of what if.
