In Summer

When it’s May
And I have to walk to
The bus stop,
The birds chirp and I wish
It was summer.

I long for when
The last school bell
Will ring,
Setting me free.

In Summer,
I’ll go to New York and D.C.,
Where I’ll see
Sights beyond my wildest dreams.

Then, it’s off to California
We’re I’ll see my cousins
And play on the sand
Along the beach
Splishing and splashing
In the cold ocean water.

Next, it’s my birthday
Where I’ll blow out the candles
Signifying another year
And everyone will sing to me.

Grandma’s camp comes along,
And everyone in our family comes.
We’ll squeeze into each room
And we’ll stay up late,
Talking and laughing,
And then we’ll go
On Grandpa’s boat.

Then, it’s off to summer camp.
I’ll dance
And sing
And have fun
With all of my new friends.

Summer begins to slow down,
And there’s less and less things to do.
Along comes school,
And I’m a slave to the bell again.
