Imagine-
A field of hope,
A view of life on the horizon.
No fear or self doubt to be seen.
I’d never have to bargain
Or second guess myself.

Every day, I grew
Restless,
Impatient,
Yearning to state my position.
My thoughts and opinions
Were weeds in the field of
Daisies,
And I buried everything that was different
In order to make the flowers
Thrive.

The weeds multiplied as I got older and
More vocal,
But everyone found new ways to
Kill the weeds.
The daisies were beautiful, varied slightly,
And always agreed.
They signaled virtues
Just as the nighttime signaled
Our cellular respiration,
And since weeds were never beautiful,
My viewpoints didn’t respire.

When the morning arrived,
I grew a lavender petal,
And I felt the angry glares
From the daisies around me.
The dew from the morning mist
Coated my single petal with
The first chance to
Join the conversation
And diminish the echo chamber.

Time Lapse to:

A weed, but as an orchid instead of a
Daisy.
Misunderstood, hated,
Ostracized,
But never scared to
disagree anymore.

In a field of hope,
I have a different opinion,
And soon every weed I have will
Become a wild
orchid.

I notice a lot of similar opinions that float about in my writing class, and I wrote this in order to have a proper and simple poem about flaunting different opinions. I had a flower theme going on, too.
