WHEN WINTER COMES, CAN SPRING BE FAR BEHIND?

I stare at the last leaf
It drops down soundlessly
And then from far away
I can hear him coming

He zooms at the speed of light
And slowly but all at once
I'm engulfed in mist
It's cold and it's snowing
But I don't care
For I can hear spring calling out
"It's okay I'm coming there."

Spring is running as fast as she can
But I can't see her
I wait and wait and wait
Staring into empty space
But it's optimistic to the point of foolishness

I lie down in the cold hard snow
Defeated and lost
I call out to winter
"Is that all you got?"

But Winter is ruthless
I can hear a building snowstorm
I wait for my death
And then I can feel it
Like Magic
A warm, honey like sensation runs into my body
She has come at last
