Imprisonment
I’m shy
I’m quiet
But, my mind is loud
It screams when my lips are sealed
If only you could hear me
But, doubt clings to my heels and whispers in my ear
When will I break free?
From the imprisonment of my fear of embarrassment
But, I’m brave
I suddenly talk with confidence that I’d long hidden
Behind the long straight hair that hung in my face
And the glasses that hid my wide eyes
I push away the derogatory guilt
I’m shy
I’m quiet
But now,
I’m free
