Loneliness
I am alone
And
I
Hate how the frigid air hits me
Like a boxer in the ring.
I
Despise the deafening silence
That clings to the stagnant air around me.
I
Loath the lingering hopelessness
That creeps into my bones like a winter chill
I
Mourn my sweet jubilant memories
As their soft joyful light
Fades into resonating resentment
But
When I am with you
The air becomes light, warm, and comforting
Like hot chocolate in a mid winter storm.
And
With you,
The silence turns to bubbling laughter and flowing music:
More beautiful than Mozart or Bach.
With you,
That lingering feeling deep in my bones
Dissipates;
The same way a summer thunderstorm fades into a rainbow.
With you,
There is no need to mourn any memories
Because we are making new ones.
With you, I am not alone.
