Do not look where you fell, but where you slipped. ~ African Proverb

Let’s play pretend
We can run through mountains
Or dance at a ball
We could have a tea party
Or skip as we play hopscotch
As little girls do
I’m getting ahead of myself
I forgot how limp you are
Perhaps tea is the best
You can sit
I can help you drink
Don’t worry, dear friend
I’ll keep your promise
Even though your father never did
(He was a drunk, after all;
You couldn’t expect that much, did you?)
We will be friends to the end
Even though your heart has slowed
And you are stone cold
As you are now
I will remain beside you
Playing as if we are little girls again
Instead of teenagers, with you dead
