I Take It Back

The nights I’d hold you
Your sweet cologne on my lips and you would
Play with my hair in the back seat
And we would whisper love songs and write stories on the wall
And I learned that pain and designer drugs don’t mix
And we’d waste away in the dark of night
Singing softly, but nightingales won’t make a sound
In this universe of ours.

Well I take it all back.
Every place you touched me is another place I have to burn
I take it all back
Every time you kissed me,
Your lips were so cold
And your eyes were shut closed
Like a mannequin, so still
In the stillness of life
My villainous angel, my beautiful pain
My faux love will never be the same
Because I take it all back.
In the darkness of day
I take it all back
Honey, drink to sadness,
And I’ll drink to freedom
