Take the First Step
“Take the first step!” calls the light in the dark.
“I can’t,” cries the little one. “There’s a chasm in the way.”
“Nonsense!” laughs the twinkling, “You can come right along!”
“There’s no path, or way across,” the little one whines.
“TRUST ME AND TRY!”
So the little one steps, and finds sure footing,
And walks across with no problem at all.
“Take the first step!” calls the light in the dark.
“I can’t,” responds the little one. “I’ll fall to my death.”
“Nonsense!” chuckles the flickering, “You can come right along!”
“It’s such a big jump, I surely won’t make it!” the little one sobs.
“TRUST ME AND TRY!”
So the little one leaps, and finds he can fly,
And soars across with no problem at all.
“Take the first step!” calls the light in the dark.
“I won’t!” shouts the little one, with no thought at all.
“Nonsense!” soothes the glimmering, “I’ll be here all along!”
“I won’t and I know, no matter what happens!” the little one quavers.
“TRUST ME AND TRY!”

I was inspired by a friend who would not take care of himself. I want people to have faith and try.
