Words on a crumpled piece of paper
Never to be read again
Thrown in the garbage
To rot in a landfill.
The words
Handled with care
Nurtured, chosen thoughtfully
Now dissolve
Beside photos of the dead girl who wrote them.
Her life's work was discarded in an instant
Except some words aren't with the rest.
Her favorites
In a poem titled "I'm Sorry".
