She's mad but she's magic. There's no lie in her fire.-Charles Bukowski

Fall down the tunnel, and there you’ll find
That whom you seek.
With two white ears and fluffy tail – the rabbit who can speak.
Ask the door for the key, be careful what you read.
Inside a bottle you’ll fall and float across the sea
Until you reach the shore of wonder, and there you will surely find
The captain of the birds, the dodo, oh so kind.
Then ask the dodo
Who sits atop a closely guarded peak,
Where do I go from here, sir?
Please I do beseech.
With a twinkle in his eye and a pipe in his beak
The dodo waves you toward the forest
Near the bone-drenched beach.
Follow the path, careful now not to lose your way.
For if you stray from this road,
The Gemini might wish to play
Don’t stop or listen, just carry on your way
For in your honor farther down
A party for your unbirthday.
A rabbit, a mouse, and a hatter too
All three madder than me or you.
Ask them where the rabbit went,
I bet you they’ll know the way.
Thank them kindly, manners, please
And then be on your way
To where my smiling eyes did spy you
Swinging to and fray.
My moon-like grin entranced you
Your baby blues grew wide.
And before you go down this little street
To find your rabbit friend
Be warned that darkness lays not too far ahead.
The bloody regent is her name (what a name it is).
You’ll know you’re close
When the scent hits your nose.
Of blood and gore and death.
Her victims she killed,
Chopped off their heads
And dumps them in the moat.
Their fingers she adorns as trophies,
Their hair she wears as wigs.
My child, beware the garden,
Roses dyed with victim’s blood,
By soldiers bound to paint
So wary be,
For if they see
Your tiny golden head.
Well, you’ll no longer have to worry
at what time you went to bed.
