The raincloud has descended

Did you know?
There are charcoal
Clouds
And the dust

Coats
      Us
          All

Brother, he holds his umbrella
         At attention
Over his rainboots
        And jackets
Did you know?
        I don’t know.
        I think they’re stowed
Away
        In a cupboard
               With locks and a
               Barricade.

Sister
       Waits.
The black water grabs her ankles
              splashes become
              fingertips
       The rain has come
to wash
her
away.

Step mother, she watches as
The waterfall reaches for
       Her kitchen cupboards
       no
          She yells
                 The rain does not
                 Listen.
We shall be clean
the thunder crashes
Cracking
           Ribcages
                   The inside of her arms
                            The outside of her ankles
                                          The underside of her feet
                            entering
                            his rainboots

The rain
             is
                 Gone
As the sun
             rises again
The light sheds on us
         The light, she says
         I see you
         So we look
                     Down
Our eyes meet charcoal
Black rain boots
Broken umbrellas
And Father
Sitting in the dust.
