All the Same MAG

The skinny kid with glasses
makes his way to the gym.
Lifts weights, no difference
just to make the pretty girl look.
Crunches and push ups
followed by a triple whopper.
Each day, still scrawny
he looks to the football field
and says why not me?

The muscle-headed jock
stays after school again,
struggling with problems
the skinny kid aced.
Geometry, biology,
chemistry, trigonometry
None of it makes sense.
And he looks at the wall
covered in college posters
and says why not me?
