dry eyed

silent combat
inward agony
an unflinching stare
your cry
sinking
worthy nerves
fearful of today
and yesterday
the sinners
touch death and greet him
see the devil knocking
walk in without
saying a word
the visible voice
so composed
he wakes and shrieks
with the night.
that dry eyed grief
dilating,
a gaze of struggle
he speaks again
fluently
