"To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that’s all."
-Oscar Wilde

A narcoleptic mess,
falling apart at the seams
unraveling nightgown
worn beneath the sun’s rays
a house full of shattered mirrors
thoughts impeded by your reflection
voice of something sweet,
sugary,
a candy apple sort of thing
eyes –
how could I forget your eyes –
almond-shaped autumn,
twinkling beneath the string lights
on your porch,
your laugh a symphony of everything beautiful
oh, the violins
played beneath the moonlight
skin something like a constellation
of freckles, sprinkled
across the bridge of your nose
and I wonder now
If you remember all the nights we spent,
in our starlit misery
our hands bridging the divide between us
and the universe
I wonder if you remember
and I really hope you do.
