Sometimes nothing is better
than a glass of cold water
poured
on my feet,
sizzling
on the hot asphalt.
Sometimes the dragonflies buzz
and whine
like an old woman
who claims she’s had enough of life
but won’t give it up,
not yet.
Sometimes the sun is hot on my neck
and your kiss is the only balm,
cool and passionate
like the distant stars who fleck the sky.
I will need you in the summer.
than a glass of cold water
poured
on my feet,
sizzling
on the hot asphalt.
Sometimes the dragonflies buzz
and whine
like an old woman
who claims she’s had enough of life
but won’t give it up,
not yet.
Sometimes the sun is hot on my neck
and your kiss is the only balm,
cool and passionate
like the distant stars who fleck the sky.
I will need you in the summer.
