I’m from Oconomowoc.

“Could you say that again?”
O-C,
O-N,
O-M,
O-W,
O-C,
The land which none pronounce.

I’m from Bob the Builder
and Buzz Lightyear too.
I’m from the smell of fresh-cut lawns,
steamy summer days.
Running with Mollie,
while Terry picked away.
Homemade strawberry ice cream,
and wet dog-kisses too.

I’m from Walt Disney World,
dreaming with Uncle Bart and Aunt Liz.
Wishing upon a star,
hoping the plane home wouldn’t start.
I was Curious Calvin,
and still am today.

I’m from Mimi and Papa,
from Burt and Ellen.
I’m from “No crying in Dubuque!”,
from the sticky, sweet crunch of caramel apples.

I’m from Grandma and Grandpa,
from Larry and Helen.
I’m from the family christmas party,
from the cold, winter’s air and saying goodbye.

I’m from Just Do It,
from the dog-pile after winning the Richie Clark tournament.

I’m from a family of dreamers,
and hard-workers too.

I’m from Oconomowoc,
the land which I pronounce.
