Impossible Dreams

By , Far Rockaway , NY

Movies of the mind
The love and warmth
Searing feelings of joy
Projected by a twisting reel
Onto the wall of
Imagined thoughts

Reaching that place
Was always viewed
Through the binoculars
Of a stretched out hope
Seemed so close
In reality- far,
Far away

Realization knocked
Nothing comes
Or goes
Without a reason

Wouldn't let it in
There's no room for
The Truth
Where fantasy reigns

There's no way I won't get there
I'll walk the roads of self-inflicted pain
Towards the light at the end where everything
Because I wanted it to

Instead I find lurking,
In the predestined spot of it all:
Where the hopes
Are supposed
To be,
A flashlight of actuality
Swathed in a daze of misery
Now I'm just a deer caught
In the headlights of one
Horrible thought.

There are no dreams that can be chased
with a Fire inside
And senseless, conjured up
I was running after something
That never existed
A stupid idea turned trick-
A trap of expectancy
Without any bait
Only my crazy,
Impossible dreams
