The First Flicker

You’re somewhere stuck between sunset and sunrise
You pull your knees closer to your chest and wrap your blanket tighter around your shoulders
Everything is dark
Everyone is quiet
A once silent and pitch black night is interrupted by a sputtering crackle
then a spark
A million tiny bursts of fire light up into a sparkling wonder of flickering blaze
A fireworks display just for you
As the sparkler lights up
you can not help but do the same
