Flightless Farewell

The grey clouds swept in
With intent to shroud my happiness,
Yet I lifted my eyes to the rain
And saw a splash of blue in the darkness,
A portal to a fading glimpse of hope,
And in that tiniest, aching moment
I wished I could fly.
