The Sinking Eagle

We were like Eagles

Soaring over hills and mountains

Our wings were still strong

But our wings were suddenly tethered by

winds that blew us from the precious Land of Life

Pushed us over the Waters of Demise

And you dove right in, with me not that far behind

And I said a little prayer for you and me and more

But you had no way

To communicate

For your heart was beating no more

Time and time again

I clench my teeth to keep from crying

Emotions rotating

Like phases of the blue moon

And time and time again

I scream out loud to drown the oceans

Fighting endlessly

To keep both you and I afloat

But you're sinking farther in the Waters of Demise

While my body needs to fly back to the Land of Life

But it hurts to say goodbye.
