We sat in
The belly of your
Newly painted kitchen
(Eye-cringing yellow – overcompensation
For the monotonous white
It used to be)
And your blonde hair looked
Pale in its
Shadow.
Drumming fingers against granite
Countertops you told me
Of your newfound loves
(Among them,
Fallen angels)
And I laughed
A small sound like the
Echo of winter against
Violet skin
