I walked on water
To reach your memory;
And I held onto
The string
Of that balloon,
Before it floated
Into heaven.
I was wearing
My zebra print dress
That was striped
With my dried tears
When I saw you last.
And as I stepped
On the stool,
And peered
Into your sleeping face,
I wondered,
If I still wore
My bracelet of stars,
Would my dreams sleep too?
Before the balloon
Popped in a
Freeze-dried cumulus,
I read the past
Through a crystal ball,
And the fortunes of
Small veined hands
That held bread crumbs
Leading to scattered pieces
Of blue rubber,
Six years ago

I'm so, so proud of you, Lisha. This piece is my favorite of yours by far, and I just love every little detail of it. You did a fantastic job, and you're a fantastic writer. Don't you ever think differently. Never stop writing :)
