Thumbing through thesauruses,
-Or perhaps they’re thesauri?-
Perusing through the ancient tomes,
Surveying bibliocide,

Empowers us to implement
The possibility
Of abandoning our quick group chats
For grand complexity.

The prodigious terms we once would use
In convoluted sentences
May still be unearthed; discovered; revealed, Within thesauruses.

Circumlocution, we righteously claim,
Is politician's play.
But if we upgraded from iPhones to books,
We'd have something more interesting to say.

We've been brainwashed by the media;
Our minds have shrunk to peas,
And all we think of nowadays
Is checking our Twitter feeds.

So instead of scrolling incessantly
'Till your screen downright robs you of sight,
Pick up a thesaurus, flip through the pages,
And actually learn something tonight.
