I am but a thirteen year old girl
I cannot change the world
one day I may be able to
but for now that power is beyond me

So I must look to the people with power
the people over voting age
the people who can make a difference
I must depend on them

But when I look outside my window
at these people with the power
their cars are running, their legs are moving
but they are all asleep

Sleeping away this madness
unfolding before their very eyes
ignoring the problems at hand
because why not just sleep through it?

I am but a thirteen year old girl
I cannot change the world
and when I look to the people who can
they are all asleep

There are so many problems in this world that need to be addressed, yet nobody seems to care at all.
