The dictionary defines the belief of Nihilism as:
the extreme skepticism of nothing in the world having a real existence.
Essentially the fact that –
the universe does not care.
To it we are a fragment of dust,
perhaps even much smaller,
revolving somewhere amongst its barriers.
A slice out of oblivion.
Narratives comfort humankind.
Grasping bits of sanity in the idea of purpose,
the idea of destiny.
Perhaps searching for relevance in too many situations.
Conforming to beliefs to pacify our mind;
as it may stand in denial –
that this world could be parallel to nothingness.
Although, the events we undergo are not inherent.
This ambiguity comes in a pair:
optimistic or pessimistic.
Every day, I take it optimistically –
knowing I want the Earth to benefit
from my existence.
So I care for humanity,
recognizing:
souls deserve love, happiness and affection.
My objective for society resonating in my heart,
aspiring me to leave it better than found.
Which I can only aspire you to do as well.

Do not assimilate this poem pessimistically,
letting your mind revolve around the idea
that one day the universe will self destruct,
and your heartlessness –
will have been insignificant anyway.
I’m not instructing you to take life as a burden.
You are ignorant if you believe your cruel actions and selfishness are irrelevant.
Nihilism states morals have been constructed artificially,
morals society has conditioned us to follow –
with that, we are promised an afterlife.
I understand humankind needs guidance;
it’s our nature.
The fact is,
we are living without sin to fulfill our
selfish longings.
Yet, I can only believe
we should want to be good because our hearts
tell us to,
not because a greater power does.
Please don’t mistake this
for me saying your good intentions are wrong.
All I’m saying is,
I don’t need a guaranteed afterlife
to be a decent human being.
