Letting go
Its scary because I still dream about you
on nights when the most I can do is
sit in silence waiting for a reply
and the memory of
holding your hand in the park in September
hits me straight in the face
it hurts
because I know we can never be the same
and maybe I like it that way
I want this
but the memories still give me a headache
on nights when I’m sad,
the idea of holding on to you for just a little longer looks
so appealing

I know so many people struggle with heartbreak, and sometimes you just have to let go. I hope this poem helps move that process along just a little bit faster.
