Glass cuts through my lungs.
Understanding dawns in my eyes,
And it comes with the explosion of my world.
Regret shines clear on my face,
And my body curls in,
Trying to protect my heart while it’s being ravaged.

You shattered my world,
And broke my spirit.
You spoke nothing but lies and pain.
Each word I reread from you sends another shard of glass through my heart.
I don’t understand why you want to hurt me.
I don’t understand why you act like this.
Why?

Why do you have to hurt me?
Why must it be over and over?
I feel like I’ll never be whole again.
