You slithered around me,
a serpent
pursuing its kill.
Eyes glistening
in the dark,
as you waited for
the perfect moment
to pounce.
You saw signs surrounding me
BEWARE
they read.
But you were never a good listener.
You walked around those signs
knocking down the barricades I made
blocking my path of escape.
(Like a newborn baby, I cried
save me, save me)

I like the extended metaphor of the snake in your poem because it adds a lot of imagery and detail. I also really enjoy how your title adds even more meaning to each stanza.

I like the end part about comparing yourself to a baby because it really shows how venerable you were in that specific moment.
