So close yet so far

In Alcatraz, trapped, tortured
Raped, abused by those who should protect me
Incarcerated for a murder I didn't do
You want to, but you can't
Maybe you could, but you don't
Enslaved by the spirits roaming my cell
Desires are but distant dreams
And abstract are memories
The clock; the most torturous device
The "tic-toc" coming so slowly
As if the hands are frozen in time
And the pendulum slowing down
As I dreadfully approach death
Feeling the sunshine again...
It would get me killed
I'll watch the nightsky only when I die
Presences are continually following me
Watching my every step
Breathing on the back of my neck
Malnourished, ragged clothes, dirty
In a small cell; walls closing in
The waves crashing againt the outer walls
Signalling my near death
Telling me I'll just be one more ghost
Haunting prisoners of the prison on the island

This just popped into my mind. I think it refets to the justice system back in the days when you were guilty until proven innocent. A sad fate for those who ended up incarcerated and hadn't actually commited a crime.
