“Be the change that you wish to see in the world.” ― Mahatma Gandhi

The wind laughs and dashes
through the barren wasteland.
The land mutters and wakes
from its too short slumber.
The wind slows to a breeze,
and the land goes back to sleep.
The breeze smiles and screeches,
off to the nearest safe haven.

“Wind!” wheezes the land,
rising from its light sleep again.
“What?” laughs the breeze-wind,
dancing across the land’s face.
“Catch!” shouts the land,
throwing orange sand into the sky.
“That—achoo!” sneezes the breeze,
watching dirt sprinkle like stardust.

The land bellows a deep laugh,
beneath the wind’s floating feet.
The wind squeals, “Cruelty!”
to the land’s sensitive ears.
The land wickedly snores,
ignoring the wind’s screams.
The wind darts around the world,
attempting to wake the land again.

Now, you know why the wind sprints
and why the patient land sleeps.
